Overview
Air Alliance Houston is a nonprofit group that fights air pollution in the Houston area. Their main goal is to help people breathe cleaner air and make sure environmental justice happens for everyone, especially in neighborhoods that are hit hardest by pollution.
The organization focuses on reducing the health problems that come from dirty air. Working-class communities of color often live near highways, ports, and factories that release harmful chemicals into the air. These neighborhoods face bigger pollution problems than other parts of Houston.
A major part of their work is tracking pollution permits through AirMail. This system notifies residents about air pollution permits that could harm their community. By keeping watch on what industries plan to release into the air, Air Alliance Houston helps people understand and push back against pollution in their neighborhoods.
The group also provides education and resources to the public. They share information about air pollution, help people file complaints about illegal emissions, and give guides so communities can speak up during public meetings about environmental decisions.
